Dressing Queen Victoria
Inspired by Victoria's own journals, this presentation gives an intimate view of the Queen as she is dressed from corset to coronet in the magnificent fashions of the 1850s.

Gillian: Queen Victoria is such an iconic figure it's both a pleasure and a bit of a responsibility to portray her. I've a long-standing interest in the private lives of Victoria and Albert. After a performance at Osborne House - the Royal residence on the Isle of Wight - I was moved by the sight of their desks, side by side in the study. It really brought home what a strong loving partnership they shared. I hope this talk can reveal a more human side to the woman often maligned as a dour frump in eternal black. | Lucy: For me it's all about the clothes. I'm always adding to my collection of antique items and have quite a choice to display for this talk... a sage green 1860s crinoline gown, exquisite cream satin shoes (straights - not fitted for right or left), rustling quilted petticoats, delicate silk garters, embroidered kid gloves... |
| Very special!" - Osborne House
